The 29 Palms Band of Mission Indians has announced plans for a new Casino/RV resort.  This Multi-Million Dollar project will include a 60,000-square-foot casino, a 100-space KOA RV campground and miles of dedicated hiking trails.  Additional phases will include a 100-room national brand resort hotel, 1,000-seat outdoor amphitheater, retail center, executive championship golf course and residential properties.

Is this good for 29, what are your thoughts.

Councilman Steve Spear in a public letter recently stated that he will request that the City Council "Fast Track" the revision of the City's General Plan.  In his letter he writes that "If we do not move now it may just be too late." 

I tend to agree with Councilman Spear.  There are many changes and challenges ahead for 29 Palms, and to stick our head in the sand and rely on our currently outdated General Plan is a recipe for sure disaster.
